Patient Participation Group
What is a Patient Participation Group? (PPG)
A Patient Participation Group (PPG) is a joint venture between a general practice and its patient population.
Working in partnership with the practice, a PPG can help to make services more user-friendly and improve patient experience. By identifying issues that are important to patients and by responding to any new initiatives, it can improve and influence the way in which services are planned and delivered, and increase patients’ confidence in the healthcare provided. A PPG can support the practice when it is faced with impositions from outside sources which may not have a beneficial impact on the practice or its patients.
The Adam Practice PPG
The Adam Practice has both a virtual and Face to Face PPG – this means that some of our members can keep updated electronically via email without the need for face-to-face meetings, whilst other members can attend group discussions.
This Group plays a valuable part in the future development of the practice and is used as a resource to provide feedback on the range and quality of the services and also to generate ideas for areas to improve.
We want to encourage patients of all ages to join our PPG, to make sure that the group is as fair a representation of our entire patient population as we can achieve.
What is involved?
The main role of the Group is to give us feedback on any areas where we are seeking to improve or alter services. These alterations could be due to an NHS initiative, a suggestion or complaint from a patient, an internal suggestion or an idea from a PPG member.
It is best that you provide an email address to be contacted on.
We'll send out relevant emails to the group on a regular basis. Sometimes we'll just be sharing information, such as about local PPG-related events. Other times we might be asking for feedback/your opinions on a topic.
We'll also invite you to attend our quarterly PPG meetings. For those of you who prefer to act as a virtual member, we'll share the agenda and minutes of the meeting, giving you the opportunity to provide any feedback.
